IVY CARE AND SUPPORT SERVICES
WHAT IS NDIS?
The NDIS is Australia’s first national Scheme for people with disability. It provides funding directly to individuals.

The NDIS provides funding to eligible people with disability to gain more time with family and friends, greater independence, access to new skills, jobs, or volunteering in their community, and an improved quality of life.

The NDIS also connects anyone with disability to services in their community.

This includes connections to doctors, community groups, sporting clubs, support groups, libraries and schools, as well as providing information about what support is provided by each state and territory government.
Accessing NDIS
Step 1:
Determining your eligibility.

If you want to access funding you first need to check whether you are eligible.
To be eligible for the National Insurance Disability Scheme (NDIS), you must be:
-
An Australian resident, Australian citizen or hold a Protected Special Category Visa.
-
Under 65 years old.
-
Live in an area where the NDIS is available.
-
Currently require support from people or equipment, or require supports now that will reduce your support needs in the future.

Your eligibility to access the NDIS is determined by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA). For more information, please visit the Access Checklist on the NDIS webpage.
Step 2:
Planning.

You must apply to the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) by phoning 1800 800 100 if you are found to be eligible. The NDIA will contact you to initiate the planning process after your application is accepted.

To create your plan, you will work together with an NDIA (National Disability Insurance Agency) professional. Usually, this is done over the phone or in person during a planning meeting. You will talk about your goals and the things you hope to accomplish in this meeting. This will have a effects on the plan's features.

Once your plan is complete, the NDIA must approve it. Once it is approved, you will receive your finalised plan.
Step 3:
Using your Plan.

If you want assistance in organising your services and supports, you might be eligible for funding to include a Support Coordinator in your plan.
Organisations such as Ivy Care provide assistance in coordinating services to link you with resources in the community, activities, and supports. For those with more complicated and specialised care needs, support coordinators are typically funded.

For more information, please visit the Access Checklist on the NDIS webpage.
